In the general assembly that took place in Beijing in July 2008, I was designated as the Latin-American Regional Representative. 

The delegates the main purpose is to promote the activities of ISPRS in the region, help the members to be more active in the commission and working groups and benefit from it. Another important responsibility is to organize a regional ISPRS conference in Latin-America.

The first task consists in updating the contact list of the Latin-American ISPRS members, today we have in the Latin-American region: ten ordinary members, two regional members, one sustaining member and one associate member, we are planning to have workshops and training courses before and after.

On behalf SELPER one of the regional members, I submitted an application form in order to get the ISPRS's assistance for the XIV Symposium that will be held in Guanajuato, México in November 2010 http://www.selper2010.com/.

At the XVI Latin American ESRI user's conference in Bogotá, Colombia we held a one day GIS seminar for university professor's, with the assistance of 45 teachers from 45 countries, as a result from this seminar we opened a contest for awarding the winner with presenting a paper in one of the ISPRS congress.

At the ICC 09 in Chile (Conference of International Cartography Association) Dr. Ammatzia Peled, second vice-president and Dr. Martien Molenaar president of the educational commission were active participators. http://www.icc2009.cl/01_invitation.html At this conference many countries were present and of course most of Latin-American members assisted and we had the opportunity to show ISPRS, its objectives and organization.

ISPRS was also present in the XXVIII SELPER´s plenary meeting held in Santiago de Chile where we had the opportunity to discuss common activities for the coming years, it is important to mention the participation of nine Lain-American countries.

With the cooperation of Dr. Ian Dowman, first vice- president of the ISPRS we'll have Latin American Remote Sensing Week - LARS- in October 2010 in Santiago de Chile http://www.lars.cl/english/index.html organized by the Chilean Air Force. I have been very much involved as member of the technical committee.

Finally in September 2009, I was invited to the council meeting hosted in ITC- Enschede, Netherlands where I was able to get acquainted with the procedure's organization and activities of ISPRS.
