ISPRS President Prof. Orhan Altan and four ISPRS honorary members paid a visit to the ISPRS headquarters in Beijing on the occasion of the 30th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing.

Mr. Xu Deming, Director General of the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (SBSM), met with the guests at China Surveying and Mapping Innovation Base on October 21, 2009. Mr. Xu ensured that China would try its best to fulfill the responsibilities of ISPRS Secretary General and that SBSM would continue to support the ISPRS secretariat and further its cooperation with ISPRS.

Prof. Altan congratulated China for its remarkable progress in surveying and mapping. He expressed satifaction with China as ISPRS Secretary General, and appreciation for SBSM's support and nice working conditions that SBSM provideds, he also expressed his wish to eatablish permanent ISPRS headquarters in China.

Prof. Altan and the visiting honorary members discussed the future work plan with ISPRS Secretary General Prof. Chen Jun. An ISPRS dinner was arranged by Prof. Chen Jun to welcome ISPRS colleagues and friends in the evening. The opportunity was taken to celebrate Prof. Shunji Murai's 70 birthday and Prof. Tong Qingxi's 74 birthday.
