STATEMENT OF ACTIVITIES

The Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria is one of the five academic Departments in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the University. The Department runs a five year training course at undergraduate level leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) Degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics. The training at undergraduate level covers  all the branches of surveying and mapping such as  Surveying, Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Cartography, Geographic Information System and Spatial Data Management.  The undergraduate programme of the Department is fully accredited by all the educational regulatory authorities in Nigeria, including the National Universities Commission, The Surveyors Council of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors.

In addition to the undergraduate programme, the Department offers postgraduate studies and research leading to the award of  Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master of Science (M.Sc ) and  Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in  Surveying and Geoinformatics with specializations in Advanced Surveying and Geoinformatics Techniques, Geodesy and Geodynamics, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Remote Sensing Applications, Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Data Infrastructure.

The Department is among the top three Departments offering training and research in the field of Surveying and Geoinformatics in Nigerian Universities and is an  Academic Member  of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) in good financial standing.
