Photarc

Photarc Surveys Ltd has been in existence since 1974 and originally specialized in close range photogrammetry. Although we still conduct a great deal of close range photogrammetry for the engineering and architectural conservation market (having worked for English Heritage, National Trust UK, Cadw, Historic Scotland and the Getty Conservation Institute (LA, USA) amongst others) we have broadened our skills to include aerial survey, LIDAR data processing, terrestrial laser scanning, 3D modelling and visualization. We have conducted national mapping projects for the Ordnance Survey of Great Britain (OSGB) and Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland. We have worked in several countries in Europe, Australia, USA, Hong Kong, Central America (Honduras) and Africa (Kenya, Ghana). We are a very technically focused organization and pride ourselves in providing solutions for any geospatial project. We were pioneers in the 1980s in the use of survey cameras from a helicopter platform producing very high precision level data to better than 10mm. We also developed a combined laser/camera based system for tunnel profiling and surveyed over 250 tunnels for the UK national rail network. We designed and built our own medium format underwater stereo cameras which were used extensively during the North Sea oil exploration and early production stages.

We have recently pre-qualified to tender for the next framework agreement with OSGB. This will be a nine month programme to determine the best providers for future national mapping projects. We have also recently been commissioned for a large survey in west Africa for a major infrastructure project.
